GROUP WORK
The purpose of the group project is work collaboratively with another group of educators at a distance and to experience collaborative on line tools. Each group is going to collectively write a short story from the Mysteries of Harris Burdick.
FIRST: Get to know the people in your group and start to develop a rapport. Have each person introduce themselves, their position, how long they've been teaching, experience with VC (if any), personal hobbies, interests...have fun! Look at the camera!
Create a Google doc that is shared to everyone with everyone in the group. Perhaps use Today's Meet to share everyone's Gmail address.
** For those using GOOGLE HANGOUTS for collaboration should make sure everyone has GOOGLE+ installed.
Pick a picture from the book together and discuss story lines. Get the creative juices flowing! Use the doc, and via your ability to have a conversation thru VC technology, start brainstorming your ideas re: setting, plot, timeline, events and conclusion.
- Decide on which parts, or paragraphs, each person in your group is going to take on the task of writing.
- Do your writing. You can do this as text only in the form of a Google Doc. You may also use a Google presentation where each person takes certain “slides” in the presentation to add their writing to, as well as images, etc.
- Use the “comment” feature in docs/presentations to edit your work as a group, leave suggestions, etc.
- Do any final edits to “polish” your work.
- Share the link to your finished doc or presentation with the rest of the group so that we can all view your masterpiece!
*** You will have one hour today, tonight and 30 mins. tomorrow to work on group story. Tomorrow your group will make a 10 min. presentation.
